The anti-theft alarm (ATA) can be triggered by
actuation of an exterior surface contact
the anti-towing sensor (AS)
the alarm signal siren with additional battery (H3/1)

On vehicles with code 882 (interior motion sensor) in addition by:
the interior motion sensor (IMS).

Assuming that the corresponding inputs have been activated by activation of the ATA.
  Function sequence
The activated inputs are checked three times per second in series by the PSE control module (combined) (A37).

If two sequential checks of the same input do not indicate the non-activated state, the PSE activates an acoustic as well as an optical alarm.


Moreover, on vehicles with code 491 () a panic alarm can be triggered with the panic switch on the infrared remote control key.
