Drive authorization After inserting the remote control key into the key opening in the electronic ignition switch (EIS) control module (N73) power is supplied by an induction coil. Data is exchanged with the infrared transmitter and receiver to check the drive authorization. Unlocking/locking vehicle, remote trunk release A radio and an infrared signal are transmitted by the remote control key when one of the buttons is pressed. The validity of this signal is checked and the vehicle is then locked, unlocked or the trunk lid opened. ![]() Global/selective setting The "global/selective" setting for unlocking the vehicle can be changed by simultaneously pressing the "unlock" and "lock" buttons for longer than 5 seconds. This change is indicated by the battery indicator lamp flashing twice. |
Convenience feature The signals for the convenience feature are transmitted via infrared signal only, not via radio signal! Mechanical key The mechanical key can be removed completely from the remote control key by pressing the release button. When the vehicle is locked or unlocked with the mechanical key the central locking and anti-theft alarm (ATA) are not actuated (exception ![]() ![]() Battery check When one of the buttons is pressed the battery indicator light comes on indicating that the battery in the remote control key is okay. |
