The "rear window washer" function can be switched on by pressing down the rear wiper switch (S6/1s4). The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) (N10/1) switches the rear window washer pump (M5/3) (models 202.07/08/18) or windshield washer pump (M5/1) (model 210.2) with the windshield washer relay (K40/2k3). The pump remains switched on as long as the switch is pressed, however, for a maximum of 7 seconds. Moreover, the SAM sends a CAN message for actuation

of the rear window wiper motor (M6/4) to the PSE control module (combined) (A37) during this time. This CAN message is transmitted for 3 more seconds after the switch is released or following the seven second period to wipe off the remaining water. The PSE control module actuates the rear window wiper motor (M6/4) via a relay as long as it receives the CAN message. A relay circuit on the wiper motor stops the wiper in rest position.
